When our daughter, Abigail, was a baby she would cry unless she was being held. That meant neither of us got much sleep. I figured it was colic and it would pass after three months. It didn’t.
I gave it a few more months trying everything and finally realized that just because I was a mom didn’t mean I knew everything about taking care of a baby.
I took her into our GP and Abigail had an ear infection in both ears. We got the appropriate medicine, and she would be ok for a few days and then get another ear infection. This went on for 3 months.
Finally, I took her to a specialist, and he determined she needed tubes i n her ears. We had the procedure and within days Abigail was a different child. I still look upon it as a miracle.
But what if I hadn’t decided to go to someone who was a specialist? She would have kept crying and could have possibly lost some of her hearing.
I thought because I was a mom, I would naturally know everything about taking care of our children. I’m so glad God opened my eyes to the fact that I certainly did NOT know everything, but someone does who knows a lot about specific conditions.
