Day 17: But, are they nice?
I had a hair appointment today and I have the absolute best stylist. Not only is she really good but she is one of the nicest, kindest, Christian women I know. I love seeing her. I started thinking about other support people in my life like my housecleaner, manicurist, chiropractor (my husband and son!), the sales associates who work in the clothing stores where I shop, the staff where I do my mailing, etc. They are all very nice people. This is not by accident. I’ve worked very hard to surround myself with kind, supportive people.
Many years ago I had an ah-ah moment that life was way too short to be around negative, complaining, and draining people. I took a bold move and started firing people. I didn’t tell them they were fired – but they were fired. I called this my ‘Donald Trump’ move! I started making choices about who I wanted to hang out with and be around and it wasn’t those people. This took guts but it was worth it.
I started having criteria that I want people that I work with to be really good at what they do but then I ask the question “Are they nice?” If they aren’t, so long! I want to hang out with people who are nice, kind, caring, and want the best for others.
I think it’s a great way to live!
