I’ve been wanting to wear earrings again but the pierced holes in my ears had closed.
So, off I went to a piercing store. The longest amount of time was spent filling out a form, so they are not liable for anything!
I then picked out my studs and the technician did her thing. That part was fast and not that painful.
I saw a sign that said, ‘purchase our piercing start up kit and your piercing is free’. Great! I had no idea what this kit included but they had me at free.
When I went up to the cash register the gal looked at my info and said $93!! What?! How on earth could that have cost $93? Yes, the piercing was free and included the cleaning solution but the earrings themself cost $93.
I had assumed the earing were around $10-$20. Assumed. A very dangerous word! It had never occurred to me to ask what the price would be of the earrings.
How about you? Have you ever assumed something that turned out totally false? I know you have. We all have but it’s a hard lesson to learn!
And a lesson easily forgotten. In my 22+ years of being an entrepreneur I can’t tell you how many times I assumed the association wouldn’t have my speaking fee or I assumed a coaching prospect didn’t have the budget to hire me. I was wrong 99% of the time.
What have you been assuming, and you found out your assumption was false? I’d love to hear.
