When I was growing up, I was very tall at a young age. I just hated it. There are a lot of ways to be bullied when you don’t look average. Whatever ‘average’ is! Now I love being tall!
I had a terrible time finding pants that were long enough. I remember my mom sewing on extra material on the bottom of my bellbottoms! Luckily, that was the ‘look’ at that time. Do you remember the bellbottoms?!
If I ever did find something in the store that would be long enough, I was so happy and even happier if my mom would buy it for me. It seemed like money was tight growing up so anything new was a treasure.
We can grow up with a lot of money issues grounded from how money was treated during childhood. For me one thing was it was never talked about. Secondly, the man in the family oversaw the money, and thirdly I always felt like there was this sense of scarcity in my home.
I carried these beliefs into adulthood and have made many mistakes with money. But now that I know about money mindset everything has shifted. In fact, my mantra is I am a daughter of the King worthy of creating wealth with grace and ease. This has shifted how I feel about money.
Have you carried any beliefs about money into adulthood and are struggling with finding your own money beliefs?
