There is always a back story

christmas-tree-border2I was getting one of my last gifts at a local boutique. One of the main reasons I shop there is the owner knows my family and I can walk in, tell her who I’m shopping for and she gives me great ideas!  Love this.

Today as we were deciding on my gift a frazzled woman came in and asked us if we owned the black Audi in front of the store. We both said we didn’t and she said she had just scratched it and was going to leave a note but thought she’d check in the store first.

Both the owner and I commented to her how nice it was that she was going to leave a note.

As she walked out a very upset woman came out of the dressing room and told us she owned the Audi and then muttered under her breath “I just got this car.  Why can’t people learn to drive?”

She went outside and called to the gal putting the note on her car and they both came into the store.  As they exchanged insurance information I was watching the demeanor of both women.  One was so sorry and upset and the other was extremely irritated how this would affect the rest of her shopping day.

I found out after the women left that the young mom who scratched the car had lost her husband almost 2 years ago and is now a single mom of 3 young children.  This will be her 2nd Christmas without her husband and her children without their dad. Heartbreaking.

I wonder how the woman whose car was scratched would have acted if she had known the situation.

The owner of the store said to both women as they left  “There are worse things that can happen in life.”  Amen.

There is always a back story.

A Christmas Message

My wish this holiday season and for 2014 is that we always remember all of us have a story.

Let us always remember kindness is never a wrong decision.

Let us always remember what we do and say lasts long past the encounter.

Merry Christmas and a blessed 2014!

A quote to start 2014!

A good life is when you assume nothing, do more, need less, smile often, dream big, laugh a lot and realize how blessed you are for what you have.
