For years I had heard about White Castle burgers. So many comments about how wonderful their burgers are so the last time I was in Minneapolis I saw a White Castle and eagerly pulled in.
Not too impressed with the condition of the parking lot, nor with the customer service when I used drive through. But, I was not worried as I was sure the sliders I purchased were going to be delicious.
I wanted to get to my hotel to eat but couldn’t wait to taste one so I took a bite. Not good. Not good at all. I was super disappointed. At my hotel’s restaurant I asked for some ketchup packets to wash the food down and when they saw my White Castle bag I could sense their disapproval. They told me they weren’t surprised I needed something to make the burgers edible.
Where were they when all I heard were wonderful things about White Castle?!
I started thinking about testimonials I read on websites, testimonials on sales pages for home study programs and products, and testimonials for workshops and seminars. I wonder if they are all they are cracked up to be.
Can you stand by what others say about you? Are you setting up your clients for joy or complete disappointment? Perhaps it’s time to re-read your testimonials and make sure your business is what others say it is!
