Resolutions be gone

I want to wish you an awesome Happy New Year! Thank you for being a part of my life.
I’m going to ask you to please not make any New Year’s resolutions this year.  Have they ever worked in the past?  Probably not!

I’m going to ask you instead to set benchmarks for yourself.  A benchmark is a number that measure an activity or result.

Examples:

  • Walk one mile 3 times a week – your benchmark is one
  • Drink 8 glasses of water every day – your benchmark is 8
  • Have a date night with your honey one night a week – your benchmark is 1
  • Take 2 vacations this year – your benchmark is 2

Get the idea?  Doesn’t this sound much more achievable than:

  • Lose 10 pounds
  • Eat healthier
  • Build a better relationship with my loved one
  • Spend more time with my family

You’ve just made your goals or resolutions ‘real’ by chunking them down to doable action items.  Your benchmarks.
