Do you remember your goals and resolutions from January 1?!
Dear Elizabeth,

We are 6 weeks into 2015. Do you remember the goals and resolutions you set on January 1st?

I am amazing at how fast these first 5 weeks flew by and the next 5 will go by just as fast.

Are you where you thought you'd be at this time on January 1?  If not, it's ok.  But, it is an important question to ask if you want to stay on top of what you want to achieve this year.

What about instead of setting goals for the year you break them down into 5-week intervals. Somehow the word 'intervals' sounds so much more doable than 'goals'. And, doesn't the thought of 5 weeks give you a feeling of peace? It does for me. 
If it works for a 4 year old it will work for you
We watched our grandchildren, Addi, who 4, and Alex, who is 7 months, for six days while their parents relaxed in Florida.  We had a great time together although the nights were a bit interesting!


At about day two  Addi kept asking how many days until mommy and daddy come home. She could not visualize the phrase ‘only 4 more days’.


I started thinking about how I could make this real for her. I asked Emily to draw a diagram with boxes by the various activities she would do the next few days until her parents got back home. Genius – if I do say so myself!


Once Addi had the diagram and could check off the boxes as the days went by she no longer asked ‘how many days’ or was anxious.  She had a plan and she could see progress.

I figure if it works for a 4 year old this will work for you!

Here is what I want you to do:

Take the goals you set 5 weeks ago and break them down into what you can get done in the next 5 weeks.  

  • You want to lose 50 pounds in 2015? This means that you will want to lose 5 pounds in the next 5 week.
  • You want to bring in $80,000 in gross revenues in 2015? This means you want to book $7300 in the next 5 weeks. 
  • You want to speak in front of groups that include your right-fit clients 12 times in 2015. This means you want to speak once in the next 5 weeks.

Just like I did for Addi I am giving you a form to use to make sure you accomplish what you set out to do. Use this "2015 Interval" Form and write down your goals for the next  5 weeks. Break them down into what you can do each week for the next 5 weeks.

Now you have a doable plan.

All you need now is accountability.  You need a business mom!

There is a lot of excitement with a New Year but  unfortunately, the excitement can quickly disappear as real life kicks in and just because the calendar says 2015 does not mean miracles happened overnight!
