It's after Valentine's Day - now what?
For the past 22 years Valentine's Day has been especially amazing because our youngest child, Micah, was born on February 14.
I know that for many Valentine's Day can be amazing and for many it can be heart breaking.
The same is true for our business. We have great days and we have some awful days.
It's what we do on the awful days that keep us going.
When our son, Chris, turned three, we gave him a Nerf basketball
set. We gave him the ball; he turned, and made a basket! I
don't think he stopped for years. He had an incredible inner drive and
passion for the sport. We were sure when he and his teammates were
seniors in high school they would take the state championship.
His team had a great senior year with only one loss during the
season. We had one game left in the tournament to win and then it
was on to state. The guys played so hard but when their key player
fouled out you could tell the team gave up. Not Chris. I
have never seen Chris so excited as he cheered on the team and told them
this was not going to stop them. You could tell the team started
to respond and started playing great. But, we lost the game on the final
Our team collapsed on the bench in tears. I watched in amazement
as Chris, standing tall, walked across the gym to where Bruce and I were
in the stands. We hugged him and told him how proud we were of him.
Your life and your business aren't about a win or a loss. It's
about your character and your spirit. It's about standing tall no
matter what happens and knowing what is important in your life.
I'm not sure if you had a great Valentine's Day or not so great but luckily our life and business is not just about one day.
How can you stand tall today?
