Surround yourself with people who believe in your dreams.
I was reading an article in my Success January 2014 issue called "Prepare for Liftoff". It is a checklist of 12 practices to make 2014 our best year.
I found it very interesting that
practice #2 was 'get a mentor'. The writer, Lisa Ocker, said to
seek out people with knowledge we desire.
I agree - totally. But, I would
have added a 13th practice to this article and that is to make sure we
surround ourselves with people who believe in us.
I started thinking about when I realized it was important to have a mentor and a support system.
14 years ago at age 45 I started a
professional organizing business. I know many people thought I
was crazy. If it weren't for the people I surrounded myself who
believed in me I wouldn't have been able to achieve the dream of having
my own business while being a stay-at-home mom for 5 kids.
Little did I know my dreams would go past
being a professional organizer. As the years went by my dreams
included being a national speaker, an author, a business coach, and a
grandmother! And, they all came true.
They came true because of my family:
Bruce, Chris, Ashley, Addilynn (who made
me a grandma!), Emily, Abby, Sean, Micah, and my mom and dad who have
believed in me the longest.
They came true because of my business coach and the Small Business Success Network:
Mark LeBlanc, Sherry Coautte, Kylie Strem, and Nic Bittle
They came true because of Renee Smith who is the reason I'm a speaker today.
I am so thankful for each of these amazing people.
How about you? Who is supporting your dreams? Do you have a mentor?
And...who are you supporting?
