Welcome to this issue of my monthly tip newsletter just for professional organizers.  Each month you'll be receiving an easy-to-implement and very valuable tip or strategy to help you grow your professional organizing business.

It's All in the Numbers!

Do you track your business numbers each month?  I mean really track them?  Do you know what you are booking each month, delivering each month, and depositing each month?  This may sound blunt but if you aren't tracking your numbers you have a hobby not a business.  And, if you aren't tracking your numbers and your business is not where you'd like it be, this may be the reason.

Do not feel bad if you answered 'no' to the questions above because you are not alone.  But I want you to know that if the money side of your professional organizing business is not clear, then everything else is muddy.

I'm not talking about money from a greed viewpoint.  But when the money side of your business is clear you have a much better outline from which to make decisions about every aspect of your business.

I teach my OrganizersPlus Coaching Program clients the SRO Formula which I learned from the Small Business Success Coaching Network of which I'm a member.

SRO FORMULA
S = Survival

R = Realistic
O = Optimistic

When we look at the SRO Formula we always look at a month, never a year. The secret to your success is in the phrase 'every 30 days'. What is your monthly survival number from a gross revenue perspective?  What is realistic for you to generate on a monthly basis? But, if you could look into a crystal ball - a realistic crystal ball - based on your current capacity to deliver and your current fee schedule what would you like to bring in (this is your optimistic number)?  What number would make you very excited?!

Your optimistic number may appear to be a stretch at first but it is the number that represents the amount of work you want to do.

Your optimistic number is a foundational number.  I want you to create a foundation for your success so you will be unstoppable! When you know what you 'money goal' is each month you are much more likely to do tasks each day that will bring you closer to your goal which is your optimistic number. 

Every month track your numbers - survival, realistic, and optimistic.  There is a wonderful sense of confidence when we know where we stand with the financial side of our business.
