Welcome to Elizabeth Hagen's Growing Your Business with Confidence Monthly Tip

Greetings!

Welcome to this issue of my monthly tip newsletter just for women entrepreneurs.  Each month you'll be receiving an easy-to-implement and very valuable tip or strategy to help you grow your business that you love.

If this sounds valuable to you then I'm looking forward to helping you to stand out, accelerate your success, and grow your business!
Boundaries anyone?

Do you ever feel taken advantage of in your business?

Do you show up to work with a client and she's forgotten your appointment...again?

Do you wait to get paid?

Then it's time for you to set your business policies - or as I call them - boundaries.

Perhaps you hear the word 'boundary' and think of a fence or a limitation. It's just the opposite.  When you set boundaries in your business you actually create more freedom to do the work that you were placed on this earth to do.

When you are clear on your business policies your clients appreciate your clarity and then you become a good role model for them to create boundaries as well.

What are your policies or boundaries around:
  • Office hours
  • Cancellations
  • Payments
  • Deposits
  • After-hour calls and e-mails
  • Driving distance before charging for travel
  • Session length

  • Pro-bono presentations and/or consultations

Here is the million-dollar phrase that pays:  My business policy is....  There is no disagreement or issue with a policy.
  • My business policy is to take a 50% nonrefundable deposit to hold the appointment date for you.
  • My business policy is that I take client calls on Tuesdays, Wednesday, and Thursdays.
  • My business policy is that I work with clients between 9 am and 3 pm.
  • My business policy is to return all calls within 24 hours.
  • Etc.
It's time to get firm and clear, .

Elizabeth's Assignments:
  1. Make a decision to have boundaries/business policies in your business.

  2. Take action by writing them down so you can see them and read them every day.

  3. Stay focused and firm when someone tries to 'move' your boundaries.  They are not only for your good but your clients as well.

Let me know at my blog what policies you have now set in your business (and perhaps your personal life!).
There's a Confidence App for That!

This teleclass was such a success in January I'm offering it again!  Join me for a complimentary teleclass I'm presenting on Thursday, February 10,  2011 at 7 PM EST where I'm going to share 3.3 Confidence Apps in 33 minutes!  You don't want to miss this.  Find out all the info and register here.
