When rocks don't work

Message Title
, have you seen the movie Forrest Gump?  If you haven't, please rent it!  It's a great movie and is filled with life lessons.

I watched the movie again recently and something Forrest (played by Tom Hanks) said jumped out at me. It was near the end of the movie and Forrest and his childhood friend, Jenny, were in front of the home where Jenny was raised.  She was a survivor of abuse and as she looked at the abandoned house she jumped up and started throwing rocks at the home. She threw and threw and finally collapsed on the ground.  Forrest sat by her and said "Sometimes, I guess there just aren't enough rocks."

Isn't that the truth?

It isn't possible for us to change what has happened to us as hard as we may try. It may feel good to throw rocks for awhile but then we realize that's not going to change anything.   It's hard at that moment but I believe that is the first moment of healing.

What have you tried to throw rocks at?  Is it changing anything?

My dream for you is to look inside yourself and know as Og Mandino says in his book of the same title "You are the greatest miracle in the world."

Is it time to stop throwing and start believing that today is a new day?  Time to believe that the past is not a predictor of your future?

As Forrest's mom said "You've got to put the past behind you before you can move on."

Let me know at ElizabethHagenInspires what you will do today in your 'new day'.

Love and confidence,

Elizabeth
