You are fabulous!

Why is it (and maybe it's just true for me but I'm betting it's true for others) easier to repeat negative things people say about us then good things?  I have no trouble telling my husband if I get an e-mail that tells me what I'm doing wrong, but I gloss over positive comments that I get.

I just got back from a speaking engagement in Philadelphia, PA and have been getting the most wonderful e-mails from the group. One person said "I've got to say your workshop was by far one of the most informative, entertaining, and relevant conferences I've attended in many years." Wow!  I beamed for a long time!  I wanted to share her comment with others but then almost stopped.  You see, what if you think I'm bragging by telling you this?  That's when I realized that it's must easier to pass on negative comments than positive ones.

Why is that?  For me it goes way back to childhood.  I was told "don't let that go to your head" or "don't think too much of yourself".  I think that we should let things go to our head and we should think big of our self. If we don't, who is?

Great self-esteem and true confidence comes from within and then we can let that shine on others. I'm not talking about being obnoxious and me, me, me.  I'm saying that it is a good thing to think that we are awesome and to really treasure when other people realize the same thing.

Quick, write down 5 fabulous things about yourself. What was your first reaction to that request?  Set those thoughts aside and do it anyway.  Hopefully you'll keep going and write 100 awesome things!  You are an amazing person.

November Confidence Action Step:

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?

Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
A quote by Marianne Williamson from A Return to Love: Reflections on the Principles of a Course in Miracles

It's time to shine your light!

November Organization Tip:
Walk into your closet feeling really, really fabulous.  As you look around you're going to see things that a fabulous person would not wear. Give these items away and feel free! Let me know at my blog what you give away.

,what are you waiting for?

 Love & Confidence,

Personal Note

I just got back from Philadelphia after presenting my Growing Your Business with Confidence workshop for the NAPO-Greater Philadelphia Chapter.  This was an amazing group of entrepreneurs and they now have the tools to have more focus, more prospects, more referrals, and more business.  If you belong to an association chapter give me a call to see how we can bring this presentation to your group. This workshop can be a great fundraiser for your chapter.

In October I had a wonderful time speaking for the Presentation Sisters' 'Women on the Prairie' Conference.  Another special group!

I also presented at a MOPS group in Brookings, SD and I love speaking to young moms!  Speaking of young moms we've found out that our son and daughter-in-law are expecting a baby girl next March - we can't wait!!
