"Leave it in Last Week"

Ever had a bad day?  Of course! We all have.

But long after the bad day was over did you carry it with you into the future?

I was visiting recently with a colleague and she was telling me about an upsetting event that had happened to her the week before. As she talked I felt very sad.  I shared some thoughts but there really was nothing that I could say that would change anything. And there was nothing that she could do to change what had happened. I finally said to her "It's time to leave this in last week." 

Sometimes 'it is what it is'.  While it's nice to think that we can have closure with the people involved with everything that happens to us, sometimes there is nothing we can do except have closure for ourselves.

To have closure for ourselves we need to:
  • really think through what has happened
  • ask ourselves if there is anything that we can do
  • if the answer is yes - do it
  • if the answer is no - leave it in last week and let it go
Really, let it go.  Your thoughts of replaying what happened over and over does nothing for you - nothing other than upsetting you again.

What do you need to leave in last week?

When you consciously do this I want you to reward yourself as this is a huge step!  If you really 'leave it in last week' you are going to feel amazing!  Give yourself a:
  • Day off
  • Massage
  • Pedicure
  • Movie in the afternoon
  • Nap
  • Long walk
  • What else can you think of?
, this really is your time and it may be time for you to leave some things in last week'!  What can you let go of and then move on?
