Confidently Yours: Part Four – Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway

Ahhhhhhh!!Do you ever feel fear?  Every day, you say?! I understand.

Do you realize how your fears can keep you stuck? Motionless?

Take a minute and think about all the fears that you feel on a daily basis. Now think about this – how many come true?  I bet you would say hardly any. Exactly!

If we want to achieve all that we want in life and be the best for those around us we must face our fears and do it anyway.

You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing, which you think you cannot do. Eleanor Roosevelt

When I first started my professional organizing business in February of 2000 I was terrified.  My fears:  Terrified of telling others about my business and they would reject me – terrified of working with a client and they would not be happy – terrified of not doing it right – I could list 10 more things that terrified me.

Fast forward 10 years later and I’m sure my many, many clients would tell you that they are glad that I faced my fear and ‘did it anyway’.

In 2001 my fabulous friend, Renee Smith, told me that I had to get out and speak to share my expertise.  I was terrified.  She said three words to me, “I believe in you.”  What do you do when someone says that they believe in you? You do it!

Fast forward thousands of audience attendees later and I am so thankful I listened to Renee.

April Confidence Action Step:
Name one thing that you are fearful of right now.  Write it down:


Ask yourself “Is this a real, legitimate fear or something that it totally in my head and is keeping me from what I want?”  I bet it won’t even happen.  Now write down one action you are going to take:


Take that action and Poof! the fear is gone!

April Organization Tip:
Pick out 3 file folders from your file cabinet that scare you as far as not knowing what is in the files.  Go through each file and hopefully toss/shred/recycle most of the papers or refile them in files that make sense.  What if you did 3 files a day for the month of April?

This really is your time.  Face your fears and you can do anything! I believe in you.
