You were born with potential,
You were born with goodness and trust,
You were born with ideals and dreams,
You were born with greatness,
You were born with wings,
You are not meant for crawling, so don’t,
You have wings,
Learn to use them and fly.~~Rumi

You have wings – use them!!
Every chance I get I spend time with my mom. Every chance she gets she holds my hand.
Interesting how roles have reversed. She held my hand as a young child to keep me safe. I now hold her hand to support her and keep her safe.
I don’t care how old we are or at what level we are in our business – it’s nice to hold someone’s hand and it’s awesome to have our hand held.
Every day when you work with your clients and make their lives better you are holding their hand.
Every day when I work with my business coaching clients or inspire women in my presentations I am holding their hand.
Are you at a place in your business that you’d like to have accountability and support? I’d love to hold your hand!
Yeah, you’ve got that something
I think you’ll understand
When I’ll say that something
I wanna hold your hand. ~~The Beatles
I am the most creative on a beach looking out at the ocean. Since I live in Sioux Falls, SD that does not happen very often!
I have discovered my new place for being creative – at least in the summer. It’s on a beach chair looking out at Lake Okoboji. There’s something about the beauty and calmness of the beautiful blue water that puts my mind into creative mode.
I wrote a number of my Sweet60Success posts in this very chair.
Soon I’ll need to figure out my new place this winter when it’s 10 degrees and -30 degrees wind chill outside!
What is your place? I can almost guarantee it’s not in your office!
Lobby of our new retreat home
For the past 5 years I have held my annual fall women’s business retreat at the same hotel in Minneapolis. The staff is fantastic and are wonderful to work with every year. This is also the hotel I stay at every time I’m in Minneapolis and it feels like home.
It also feels like time for a change.
Change can be scary but we can also become complacent when doing things the same all the time.
I’m excited to announce that in October, 2015 we have a new home for my retreat and I am thrilled. I also have a new city which will be a secret for awhile!
I want to encourage you to look at how you do things for your business? Is it time for a

change? Don’t let the fear of change stop you. Think about how you can take something you’ve done the same and make it different.
What will you do?!
On the bike trail I came upon a sign letting me know a curve was coming up. I could see the curve before I saw the sign. It was pretty obvious what was going to happen.
But, it was also a sunny day and I could easily see the path.
What if it was foggy or dark? Then this sign would come in very handy.
When things are going well in your business it’s easy to think about your next steps and know what to do. It’s a clear day.
On days when things aren’t going well and it seems like no one wants to work with you the next steps are not clear at all. In fact, everything seems pretty foggy.
This is why it is imperative you have your marketing plan and goals written down. Then it’s obvious what next steps to take to move your business forward even on a day when you may feel unclear.
Is it time for you to post some obvious signs in your business so you stay on track – especially on the foggy days?
Every time I have a computer issue I praise God for David. He has been in my life for over 13 years and I’ve told him many times he must never retire. I’m not kidding!
He and his team can help me remotely or many times David makes a house call.
He is customer service to the ultimate degree.
He is the only person I think of when my computer is causing me conniptions.
Are you the only person your prospects think of when they need your expertise?
Are you specializing in one thing? If so, marketing becomes a whole lot easier. If not, is it time to pick your specialty and be the person ‘they are gonna call’?
Whenever I see a ‘dead end’ sign I always go a bit further to see if it is telling me the truth! It always is.
Too bad there aren’t ‘dead end’ signs that pop up in our life.
A dead end is when:
- Your thoughts tell you that you are not capable
- You pick up the phone to call a prospect and you tell yourself “she probably is too busy” or “she won’t need me” so you hand up the phone
- You feel others know more than you so why would a group want to hear you speak
- You are afraid to invest in your business
- You back down when your opinion should be heard
- You decide to start a monthly newsletter or weekly blog posts and then tell yourself your articles and posts are not good enough.
These are all dead ends and get you nowhere. You don’t want to go there.
The next time a dead end thought enters your mind walk away. Get on a new path.
