365 Days of Gratitude – Day 358: She’s here, she’s gone

Emily welcoming Abby home

Leaving Sioux Falls

I am so grateful that Abby was home for Christmas. The time goes way too fast.  But I’m excited to be seeing her in Dallas the 1st week of February as I have two speaking engagements there and Abby will drive up from Houston for the weekend.

365 Days of Gratitude – Day 357: Christmas through eyes of a child

Christmas is always a lot of fun but it was very special this year as it is Addi’s first Christmas. It was so much fun watching her open presents and well, just watching her!  I was thinking back today on this Christmas and I am so grateful that Addi helped us smile more and appreciate what is truly important.  Babies find such happiness in little things and it was great to be reminded that every day there are little things to be joyful about.

365 Days of Gratitude – Day 356: Just the two of us, we can make it if we try

We had a wonderful Christmas with our family and then went and saw my parents in the evening. Today Abby, Bruce, and I worked out; Abby and I did some errands, and then Bruce, Emily, Abby and I saw the “War Horse” movie. A fun day.  But tonight Emily and Abby had a party to attend, Sean went out with Cassi, and Micah was working so just Bruce and I went out for dinner.  When the hubbub dies away I’m so grateful that we have the two of us.

365 Days of Gratitude – Day 355: All I want for Christmas…is my family

When I was growing up I would ask my mom what she wanted for Christmas and she would always reply love, hugs, and kisses.  Now I understand what she meant.  I am so grateful that our entire family was together for Christmas.  What is better than that?

Merry Christmas!

Sidenote:  It was in the 40’s today and no snow – this was a very strange Christmas but I love it!

365 Days of Gratitude – Day 354: Passing the torch

For a very long time one of our Christmas traditions is to have Monkey Bread for breakfast. It’s a gooey cinnamon roll type dish.  I always make it Christmas Eve as it needs to rise overnight.  Finally tonight I passed the torch.  Emily and Abby are making it and I get to sit and watch. I like this! I am so grateful for traditions that my kids love and when they start to want to do them for me.

365 Days of Gratitude – Day 353: Small and special is better

I  went shopping today for our granddaughter, Addi, for Christmas. I had thought about going to Toys ‘R’ Us but just the thought made me ill. I knew there would be crowds and a mess in the store.  That’s when I remembered a specialty children’s toy store in an area near by and I hopped in the car. What a pleasure to be the only one in the store and have great help.  I can’t share what I bought since Addi’s mom reads my posts and I want it to be a surprise but they have really cool toys these days.  I think every toy in the store taught something!  I’ll take a picture of Addi with it on Christmas and share later. I’m so grateful for small specialty stores.  It pays to specialize.

365 Days of Gratitude – Day 352: My little elf

I got to hang out with Addi tonight and she wanted to help me with some Christmas shopping, so off we went.  She made the best little Christmas elf!  I am so grateful that Addi lives in Sioux Falls, that her parents are happy to leave her with me,  and that she’s always up for a little shopping.
