2016 Success Now: Action Step #25 – Surprise Someone

on-phoneI want you to do something really fun today! Look through your list of past clients and pick three. Pick 3 that you loved working with and for whatever reason your time with them has ended.

Now, pick up the phone (no, not an e-mail) and call them. This is not a sales call. You don’t even want sales on your mind. You call to simply tell them what a joy it was to work with them and that you wish them an amazing 2016.

Done. End of story.

What are you waiting for?!

John 15: 12 – 13  The Message

This is my command: Love one another the way I loved you. This is the very best way to love. Put your life on the line for your friends.

Let’s put into place this command today – love someone the way God loves you. What does that look like?! Pretty amazing I would say.

2016 Success Now: Action Step #24 – Shape Your Year

I love seeing my year at a glance. On the wall by my desk is a year “At-A-Glance” wall calendar. This is where I write in my speaking engagements, my own workshops and teleclasses, and my time off.

wall-calendarTime off? For years that was not in my vocabulary. It’s still a new term for me. But, I know if I don’t plan it – it won’t happen.

I’ll give you a few days to get your year calendar and then schedule time to plan out the year. When do you want your time away? What events will you hold to market your business? Plot them on the wall calendar and then put them in your daily calendar.

I have a number of exciting events planned all ready that are just waiting to get on this calendar.

Having this calendar on the wall near your desk gives you a snapshot as the year progresses. I want you to have at least 1-4 events each month where you are sharing your expertise to prospects.

Are you ready to shape you year and plan ahead or sit back and hope for the best?

What are you waiting for?

Psalm 143:8  The Message

If you wake me each morning with the sound of your loving voice, I’ll go to sleep each night trusting in you. Point out the road I must travel; I’m all ears, all eyes before you.

God has our road planned out for us. We just need to listen!

2016 Success Now: Action Step #23 – Save your worries

laptop-hospitalDo you know your computer will crash at some point? It’s not if; it’s when.

This can cause a lot of worry. Unnecessary worry.

If you don’t have a backup system in place please stop what you are doing right now and take care of it.

My online suggestion is Carbonite. Very easy to set up.

You also want a local backup. I have the most amazing computer guy who takes very good care of me and my electronics and he connected an external hard drive to my computer which automatically takes care of my backups, also.

Because I have these backup systems in place I don’t worry. Even if I am needed to be in a hospital for 3 weeks I didn’t have to worry. I’m always grateful for one less thing for which I had to be concerned.

Worry does nothing besides cause stress. Who needs more of that?!

What are you waiting for?!

Proverbs 3:5-6  The Message

Trust God from the bottom of your heart, don’t try to figure everything on your own. Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go, He’s the one who will keep you on track.

I love these words. Just imagine what our life would be like if we would trust God from the very bottom of our heart. Imagine what our life would be like if we really, really listened.

2016 Success Now: Action Step #22 – Share to show you care

addi-sharing-3Right before my dad went into hospice we took our granddaughter, Addilynn, to visit him.  Addi walked right up to her great grandpa, gave him a big hug, and then started sharing her heart stickers. My dad told housekeeping to never take them off.

Sharing is a beautiful thing.

Today I want you to share:

  • A book, eBook, or article you’ve written
  • A book or article by someone else
  • Flowers
  • Cute card
  • Heart stickers!

Either by mail or e-mail share away! In fact, going into 2016 I want you to make Tuesdays ‘Share Day’.

Brighten someone’s day by sharing.

What are you waiting for?

MIcah 6:8  (My life verse)  The Message

It’s quite simple: Do what is fair and just to your neighbor, be compassionate and loyal in your love, and don’t take yourself to seriously – take God seriously.

It comes down to being fair and just, compassionate and loyal, and not taking ourselves too seriously. Sounds simple but for some reason it’s not. Let’s change that!!

2016 Success Now: Action Step #21 – Set Your Sights

look-west-3Last year at this time I spent 3 weeks in Denver taking care of our daughter, Emily, who had emergency surgeries and spent 3 weeks in the hospital. It was a horrific time.  We are so glad it it now a year later.

But, when I would see the mountains a sense of peace would come over me. I would look at the mountains and be reminded of the greatness of God.

I sent this picture to our son, Micah, who would move to Colorado in a second if he could. He loves it here.  When he saw the picture he texted me “That’s why I love Denver.  If you’re ever feeling down, look west!”

Look west.

What is your west?  When hard times come where do you turn?

My west is my faith and my family.  I’m finding with what we are going through with Emily my faith and my family are all that matters.

Everyone needs their own west. Take some time today to identify where you will set your sights when times get tough.

What are you waiting for?!

Psalm 121:1-2  THe Message

I look to the mountains; does my strength come from mountains? No, my strength comes from God, who made heaven, and earth, and mountains. He won’t let you stumble, your Guardian God won’t fall asleep. Not on your life!

I would love to be able to see the mountains every day but where I live that is not the case. While they are gorgeous and remind me of God’s grandeur I know that my strength comes from Him. He will never leave me or you.

Success 2016 Now: Action Step #20 – Shake it out

bookcaseToday is the perfect day to make the decision to leave the past where it belongs – in the trash or recycle bin.

Go to that place (you know where it is) where you have stored all of those cassette-tape courses, trainings on VCR’s, home study courses of topics you could care less about and get them out.

Believe it or not they are holding you back.  You may have them stored in bins in the back of your storage room, hidden in your bookcase, or under your bed but they still hold you back.

Maybe they were worth the money; maybe they weren’t. Maybe you actually read the material; maybe you didn’t. Maybe you applied what you learned to your business; maybe you didn’t.

Doesn’t matter. If it will not serve you in 2016 – get it out.

Need some dancing music while you work?  Listen to Taylor Swift.

What are you waiting for?!

Psalm 103: 17-18  The Message

God’s love, though, is ever and always, eternally present to all who fear him, making everything right for them and their children as they follow His covenant ways and remember to do whatever he said.

His love is always. Not just when you feel good about yourself, but always. Hold on to that promise.

Success 2016 Now: Action Step #19 – Sell what you really serve

Wisdom comes from the most interesting places.

I was at a Boston Market and started talking with Gary, the man cooking the great food.

boston-marketHe told me Boston Market has been around almost 30 years and he has worked there for 15. He loves his job.

I asked him what he loves about it and he said “We don’t serve food.  We serve people.”

What do you serve?

A professional organizer might say – organizing.  No, you serve peace of mind.

A chiropractor might say – adjustments. No, you serve better health.

An interior designer might say – design.  No, you serve a more beautiful place to live or work.

As a business coach you might say I serve coaching.  No, I serve a bigger business and a more confident you.

As a speaker you might say I serve presentations. No, I serve embracing your gifts, igniting your confidence, and making more of a difference in your life and work.

Think about what you really serve. Now look at your web site, business card, marketing materials, etc. Is it clear what you really serve?

If not, what changes can you make going into 2016?

What are you waiting for?!

I Corinthians 13:13  The Message

Trust steadily in God, hope unswervingly, love extravagantly. And the best of the three is love.

Trust, hope, and love. Incorporate these into your day today and your day will be incredible!
