2015 Success Now: Action Step #23 -Save Your Worries

laptop-hospitalDo you know your computer will crash at some point?  It’s not if; it’s when.

This can cause a lot of worry. Unnecessary worry.

If you don’t have a backup system in place please stop what you are doing right now and take care of it.My online suggestion is online suggestion is Carbonite. Very easy to set up.

You also want a local backup.  I have the most amazing computer guy who takes very good care of me and my electronics and he connected an external hard drive to my computer which automatically takes care of my backups, also.

Because I have these backup systems in place I don’t worry. As I was away from my office for over 13 days and working on my laptop from Emily’s hospital room I was grateful for one less thing for which I had to be concerned.

Worry does nothing besides cause stress.  Who needs more of that?!

2015 Success Now: Action Step #22 – Share to Show You Care

addi-sharing-3Right before my dad went into hospice we took our granddaughter, Addilynn, to visit him.  Addi walked right up to her great grandpa, gave him a big hug, and then started sharing her heart stickers. My dad told housekeeping to never take them off.

Sharing is a beautiful thing.

Today I want you to share:

  • A book, eBook, or article you’ve written
  • A book or article by someone else
  • Flowers
  • Cute card
  • Heart stickers!

Either by mail or e-mail share away! In fact, going into 2015 I want you to make Mondays ‘Share Day’.

Brighten someone’s day by sharing.

2015 Success Now: Action Step #21 – Set Your Sights

look-west-3I’ve been in Denver taking care of our daughter, Emily, who has had emergency surgeries and facing a long recovery. This is very difficult.

But, when I see the mountains a sense of peace comes over me. I look at the mountains and I’m reminded of the greatness of God.

I sent this picture to our son, Micah, who would move to Colorado in a second if he could. He loves it here.  When he saw the picture he texted me “That’s why I love Denver.  If you’re ever feeling down, look west!”

Look west.

What is your west?  When hard times come where do you turn?

My west is my faith and my family.  I’m finding with what we are going through with Emily my faith and my family are all that matters.

Everyone needs their own west. Take some time today to identify where you will set your sights when times get tough.

2015 Success Now: Action Step #20 – Shake it Out

bookcaseToday is the perfect day to make the decision to leave the past where it belongs – in the trash or recycle bin.

Go to that place (you know where it is) where you have stored all of those cassette-tape courses, trainings on VCR’s, home study courses of topics you could care less about and get them out.

Believe it or not they are holding you back.  You may have them stored in bins in the back of your storage room, hidden in your bookcase, or under your bed but they still hold you back.

Maybe they were worth the money; maybe they weren’t. Maybe you actually read the material; maybe you didn’t. Maybe you applied what you learned to your business; maybe you didn’t.

Doesn’t matter. If it will not serve you in 2015 – get it out.

2015 Success Now: Action Step #19 – Sell What You Really Serve

boston-marketWisdom comes from the most interesting places.

I was at Boston Market and started talking with Gary, the man cooking the great food.

He told me Boston Market has been around almost 30 years and he has worked there for 15. He loves his job.

I asked him what he loves about it and he said “We don’t serve food.  We serve people.”

Very wise, Gary.

What do you serve?

A professional organizer might say – organizing.  No, you serve peace of mind.

A chiropractor might say – adjustments. No, you serve better health.

An interior designer might say – design.  No, you serve a more beautiful place to live or work.

As a business coach you might say I serve coaching.  No, I serve a bigger business and a more confident you.

Think about what you really serve. Now look at your web site, business card, marketing materials, etc. Is it clear what you really serve?

If not, what changes can you make going into 2015?

What are you waiting for?

2015 Success Now: Action Step #18 – Super-size It

two-screens-3My life changed forever the day I super-sized my office and went from one computer screen to two screens.

It’s hard to explain until you do this why this is such a big deal but with two screens comes increased productivity and focus.

On the main screen I have up what I am working on and on the second screen I have my calendar, Numbers Tracking Tool, My Focus Tool, Quick Books and my contact database system up.

This way I stay focused on one thing but have other items handy at a glance without minimizing what I’m working on. This helps me stay totally focused on one thing at a time which helps me get more done…faster.

This past week I’ve been out of town working from my laptop and I miss my two screens! Everything seems so much slower.

Get two screens; change your life,

2015 Success Now: Action Step #17 – Stop It

facebookWith all due respect to the social media gurus out there I’m wondering if the time you spend on Facebook/Twitter/Pinterest/Instagram, etc has put money in your bank account.

I would really like to know.

Too many people are hiding behind their computer and hoping that if they just post enough and comment on other’s posts they are doing a good job of marketing.

Not if it’s not getting you conversations with prospects.

You may think I have something against social media.  Not at all.  I want it to be a part of your marketing plan – not your only marketing strategy.

If you are using the ‘hope and pray’ strategy with social media just stop it.  Set a time limit for being on social media and then put a specific marketing plan in place that gets your phone to ring.  Yes, actually talking on the phone.  That’s where the magic is.
