I’m curious as to how you handle your business financials. Do you have the ‘head buried in the sand’ approach? The ‘I look at my profit and loss on January 1’ approach? Or the ‘I am up-to-date and know exactly where I stand’ approach?
Guess where I want you to be?!
First, make sure you have 4 banking accounts: Business checking, business savings, personal checking, and personal savings. And, never let the personal and business intermix. When they do you are just asking for trouble.
Second, what is your tool for knowing your numbers? My personal recommendation is QuickBooks – not the online version, but on your computer.
Don’t have any tool? Get QuickBooks today. Unless you have an accountant-type background hire someone to set it up for you. Find a QuickBooks Certified professional. My recommendation is Elizabeth Sawyer or Barbara Osgood who can work with you virtually.
Let January 1, 2016 be your dividing line in the sand to be totally clear and cognizant of the financial side of your business.
Your checkbook will thank you!
What are you waiting for?
Matthew 11:28-30 The Message
Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me – watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.
Doesn’t this sound so lovely? So peaceful? I think it’s time to live freely and lightly.
